About us
Community Learning is part of North Somerset Council’s Employment, Skills and Learning Team. Our role is to help adults with few or no qualifications to gain skills and build confidence, so that they can progress to further learning opportunities or find work.
We design and deliver English classes for those with no English up to Entry 3. We are non-accredited, but we are Ofsted inspected. We expect learners to be ready to attend each session and aim to support them to complete their course. We can help sign post to other courses with Weston College and can help support with Life in the UK needs like ‘form filling’ and information sharing. We focus on people who face a wide range of barriers to learning and work. Supporting them to explore and set goals, to celebrate their achievements and to progress on to new opportunities and challenges.

Community learning offers quality free or low-cost courses for adults aged 19 or over who are
- in receipt of benefits or
- have few or no qualifications
Courses aim to improve employability, health, wellbeing and confidence.
We work within the Community Learning West consortium along with Bristol City Council to offer these courses to North Somerset residents.
